Where to Seek Healing

I am writing this blog (or at least beginning to write it) from the cry room of my parish’s church. After another fast and furious Monday morning full of Vacation Bible School drop-off, Aldi’s, tutoring, and more VBS, I am hoping to receive some unmerited grace and Divine inspiration from our Lord ever-present in the tabernacle (grace is always unmerited and unearned as it is pure gift from God, but this time perhaps a little more “unmerited” since I have known that I needed a blog for July 16th ever since December 2, 2023…but I digress). And it’s no wonder that my mind drifts to the theme of the homily I heard exactly 24 hours earlier in almost the same spot: healing.

I think most (if not all) FertilityCare Practitioners would agree that there is so much hurt and woundedness in the world of fertility. Whether from past trauma in the form of an abortion or an abusive relationship, or if it’s a current struggle with infertility or the dramatic change of introducing a natural from of family planning into your marriage, healing and grace is needed everywhere. So where can we find healing, especially when it comes to fertility? Allow me to offer some practical sources and solutions to help bring healing to fertility:

-Prayer: It is always best to begin anything with prayer, and this list for bringing healing to fertility is no different! Prayer for healing when it comes to fertility can take many forms: prayer for healing in communication and understanding when spouses are discerning whether or not they are called to add to their family that month; prayer for healing from the diseases or issues causing an endless struggle with infertility; prayer for healing to see your days of fertility as the beautiful gifts they are instead of as “unwelcomed guests” crashing your chart’s plain green stamp party. These prayers can be offered in the quiet of your heart, united with Christ in the Mass, or even through the intercession of Mary, the Saints or a prayer ministry team. At Groesbeck FertilityCare Center, all of our practitioners are always praying for our clients and are happy to even pray with you during your follow-ups if so desired!

-Counseling or therapy: Sometimes there are things from our past or current situations we find ourselves in that are too big to tackle by ourselves. Seeking the help of a qualified counselor or therapist is an absolutely valid way to bring healing to fertility, whether it’s discussing a past trauma in a safe place or sifting through the emotions of a current season of life. Finding a qualified counselor or therapist for your specific need can be a great way to invite healing into your fertility in the form of peace, forgiveness, and surrender. Your FertilityCare practitioners can help connect you to someone best qualified to walk with you on your journey no matter the circumstance you may be experiencing with your fertility.

-The Creighton Model and NaPro Technology: Perhaps this goes without saying- this is a blog on a FertilityCare Center website after all- but learning the Creighton Model and working with a NaPro Medical Consultant can be a very real source of healing for all sorts of fertility issues. Whether it’s a single woman looking for relief from PCOS symptoms and having birth control continuously pushed on her by her OB/GYN, or a married couple stuck in the throes of unexplained fertility, learning how to accurately chart with the Creighton Model can shed some serious light on various issues and concerns that can be taken to  a NaPro physician for either medical and/or surgical intervention in a way that respects the dignity and integrity of women and marriage. Seeking appropriate medical treatment that works cooperatively with a woman’s body is most definitely a form of healing.

While this list is not exhaustive of all the ways to seek healing, my hope is that it can offer a concrete starting point for those unsure of where to begin. As always, your FertilityCare Practitioners are always happy to help with any questions you may have. Message one of us today to get started on your journey towards healing!
