In celebration of Worldwide FertilityCare Week, I asked one of our clients if they would be willing to share their experience with the Groesbeck FertilityCare Center and NaPro TECHNOLOGY for this week's blog. I received an overwhelming "Yes!" and the following beautiful testimony. Please enjoy!

At 39 years old, I had finally found the love of my life and we were married on July 9th, 2022. We knew we wanted to start a family right away. In early 2023, after months of struggling to conceive and using tools like a ClearBlue fertility monitor, we made an appointment to see my OB/GYN doctor. I knew that at 39 years old, we might need a little bit of help or just need patience to conceive. We had gone through marriage prep classes as part of getting married in the Catholic Church and we were familiar with natural family planning, but at this moment, they didn’t really come to my mind as another tool that I could utilize.

My OB/GYN tried a few approaches - Letrozole, confirming each month that I was releasing eggs and checking my progesterone levels (they were borderline low, but still confirmed that I ovulated), and eventually they tried the trigger shot. After at least 3 months without success, my OB/GYN referred us to a reproductive endocrinologist.

When I heard that we could work with a specialist, I thought for sure we would do additional testing to identify the source of our struggle. We had some additional lab work and two HSGs, but we were left with the label of “unexplained infertility” and told repeatedly how low our chances were at conceiving naturally at my age. Multiple times I thought to myself, could you please diagnose me with an issue and explain it to me? We tried multiple rounds of timed intercourse with Letrozole, giving myself shots with a follicle-simulating hormone and trigger shot, and then wrapping things up with progesterone pills. All of these medicines really made me feel pretty terrible (hot flashes, bloating, abdominal pain, etc.). Scans would always come back that we were set up for success and we would say our prayers and keep our fingers crossed and yet, each month, we would get the same negative result.

Part way through working with the reproductive endocrinologist, I signed up to work with a holistic medicine practitioner. Perhaps a different approach at fertility would make a difference? During my time working with the holistic medicine practitioner, I went through three months of acupuncture and added basal body temperature monitoring to the mix. In September 2023, we finally received a positive test result. We were over the moon and announced it immediately to our parents and siblings. But, sadly, within a week of seeing that positive test result, we got devastating news that we had an ectopic pregnancy.

After roughly six months of working with a reproductive endocrinologist, I had a conversation with a co-worker and he mentioned he and his wife were going through infertility struggles as well. He said he was working with a NaPro Technology doctor and they were receiving diagnoses like PCOS and endometriosis. After work that night, I jumped online and immediately started researching. I knew NaPro Technology sounded familiar, but I couldn’t recall the details of it. Sure enough, my marriage prep class on natural family planning was dusted off in my brain.

I contacted my instructor from the natural family planning course and she listened to our story. She recommended that I try Creighton charting and to work with a FertilityCare organization to learn how to do so. At this point, I had tried so may approaches, why not try Creighton charting? In the back of my mind, I also thought, perhaps this was God’s plan - learn what your religion taught you in marriage prep.

I took some time to learn Creighton charting with Groesbeck Fertility. I learned so much about my cycles and fertility through Creighton charting. We quickly uncovered that I didn’t have very much cervical mucus. I also made an appointment with a NaPro Technology doctor in Indiana. At my first appointment with the NaPro Technology doctor, he spent an hour with my husband and I, listening to our story and then reviewing my Creighton charts. He immediately thought I needed something to help my body with cervical mucus (vitamin B6 and FertileCM). He also thought it might be worthwhile to do a diagnostic procedure to see if I had endometriosis, which he suspected that I did.

In May 2024, I had the diagnostic surgery. Sure enough, stage 2 endometriosis was uncovered. In August 2024, I had surgery to remove the endometriosis. On October 1st, 2024, we received that beautiful positive pregnancy test result. We were in total shock. So much so, that I didn’t believe it and thought my mind was playing tricks. I ended up testing again the next morning. When the second test was also positive, I made a phone call to get the lab work ordered to confirm that we were truly blessed with a positive pregnancy.

Fast forward to today, March 21st, 2025, and I am 28 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby boy. The only high-risk factor is that I am 42 years old (and yes, my regular OB/GYN office reminds me about my age at nearly every appointment).

I’ve been so thankful to get connected with Groesbeck Fertility and learn Creighton charting that I have referred others to them who are also facing their own fertility struggles. I am convinced that without Creighton charting and the NaPro Technology doctors that we would still be left wondering if anyone could explain our unexplained infertility struggles! Thank you to Groesbeck Fertility and the FertilityCare organizations out there! Without the work that you do, we wouldn’t be expecting our beautiful baby boy on June 13th, 2025.
